Basic Tips From A Professional Moving Company
Suburban Metro Relocations have been helping people move home for a long time, and we’ve come to learn a thing or two when it comes to packing. All those years of experience can be passed on, so let us help you. Before you pack to go to your new home, listen to the advice of the professionals!
These are just a few basic tips for when it’s time for the big move
Make sure everything is labelled
It seems pretty obvious, but you’d be surprised how many people think they’ll just remember what boxes contain which items. Arriving in your new home, you’re going to want to know where all your cutlery is when it’s dinner time. But which box was it in again? Oh, yeah, the box with the cooking utensils… but which one was that? Label every box clearly so when it comes time to unpack you can put each box in its respective room before starting, and you know what exactly each box has inside.
Keep the important stuff together
We recommend taking all the really important stuff with you during the big move. When we say important stuff, we mean the official documents that if lost can be a major pain to replace. Birth certificates, passports, medical documents and graduation certificates, along with old love letters or personal photos. If you have all your photos stored digitally, then take them on a hard drive with you, and ALWAYS back them up.
Screw it!
All those things you have to take apart before moving: your bed, tables, TV unit … keep all the screws, parts and Allen keys together in zip-lock bags. Duct tape the bag to its respective furnishing, making sure it’s sealed up for the move. This way, when you come to put your bed back together again, you’re not sifting through dozens of little screws, wondering which ones are for your bedframe, and which are for the computer desk in the office.
These are just a few of the tips and suggestions we can give you as Auckland’s finest moving company.
